Let us now see the information collected by Google...

What Information Does Google Collect ?

It collects all the information that we give directly or indirectly. For example, when you sign in any of Google's services, then it asks for your personal information, like your name, email address, contact number or any other data to store with your account. By these permissions Google tracks all of your activity and store it in its database.

Earlier all of these activities cannot be visible from our end. But now after the initiation of Google's new tool "My Activity", we can see all of our activity that we have done throughout the time. We can not only just see, but also manage it by visiting our My Activity page associated with our Google Account.

Here, you can see which sites you visit, what devices you used, which apps you’ve used, and which Google products you’ve interacted with. Each activity entry is placed on a timeline so you can scroll back through your history to see everything that Google knows you’ve been up to.

You can also search or filter through your activity. Think of it like your search history, but for everything you do online. You can filter results based on time, which Google products you were using, or keywords you specify. You can delete specific activities, delete entire topics from your history, or selectively disable certain types of tracking like location history or device information.

To check out your account activity and manage it just visit https://myactivity.google.com/myactivity

How Google uses our Information ?

With all this information at its fingertips, Google can group data together in very useful ways. Not just per user or visitor, but Google can also examine trends and behaviors for entire cities or countries.

Google can use the information it collects for a wide array of useful things. In all of the various fields where Google is active, it can make market decisions, research, refine its products, anything, with the help of this collected data.

For example, if you can discover certain market trends early, you can react effectively to the market. You can discover what people are looking for, what people want, and make decisions based on those discoveries. This is of course extremely useful to a large company like Google.

And let’s not forget that Google earns much of its money serving ads. The more Google knows about you, the more effectively it will be able to serve ads to you, which has a direct effect on Google’s bottom line.
